PSALMODY
FIRST PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Our Lord and Creator,
we adore you at all times,
especially now at dawn when you have awakened us from sleep,
that we might praise you.
Grant us to stand at your right hand at your great Dawn,
to receive the life of happiness.
And with joyful hearts we shall give you glory and thanksgiving, now and forever.

PSALM OF THE DAY
Antiphon:
A just judge is God

PSALM 7: 2-3, 9-12, 18
O Lord, my God, in you I take refuge;
save me from all my pursuers and rescue me,

Lest I become like the lion’s prey,
to be torn to pieces, with no one to rescue me.

Do me justice, O Lord, because I am just,
and because of the innocence that is mine.

Let the malice of the wicked come to an end,
but sustain the just, O searcher of heart and soul, O just God.

A shield before me is God,
who saves the upright of heart;

A just judge is God,
a God who punishes day by day.

I will give thanks to the Lord for his justice,
and sing praise to the name of the Lord Most High.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
now and forever. Amen.

Antiphon:
A just judge is God

SECOND PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Glory to you, Light of truth and Star of glory.
The radiance of your splendor dispels darkness from our minds and hearts.
O Lord,
grant that in praising you, we may be enlightened,
find our joy in you,
and recognize you as the giver of that light which dispels
darkness and creates morning.
O Father, Son and Holy Spirit, whom all creatures must adore, to you be glory, forever.
Amen.
NUHRO (LIGHT OF HYMN)
The Light of the just and joy of the upright is Christ Jesus our Lord.
Begotten of the Father, he manifested himself to us.
He came to rescue us from darkness and to fill us with the radiance of his light.

Day is dawning upon us; the power of darkness is fading away, From the true Light there arises for us the light which illumines our darkened eyes.

His glory shines upon the world and enlightens the very depths of the abyss.
Death is annihilated, night has vanished, and the gates of Sheol are broken.
Creatures lying in darkness from ancient times are clothed in light.
The dead arise from the dust and sing because they have a Savior.

He brings salvation and grants us life.
He ascends to his Father on high.
He will return in glorious splendor and shed his light on those gazing upon him.

Our King comes in majestic glory.
Let us light our lamps and go forth to meet him.
Let us find our joy in him, for he has found joy in us.
He will indeed rejoice us with his marvelous light.

Let us glorify the majesty of the Son and give thanks to
the almighty Father, who,
in an outpouring of love, sent him to us, to fill us with hope and salvation.

When he manifests himself, the saints awaiting him in
weariness and sorrow,
will go forth to meet him with lighted lamps.

The angels and guardians of heaven will rejoice in the glory of the just and upright people of earth;
together, crowned with victory, they will sing hymns and psalms.

Stand up then and be ready!
Give thanks to our King and Savior, who will come in great glory to gladden us with his marvelous light in his kingdom.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.
Alleluia.

THIRD PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Lord,
guard our thoughts from the errors of this troubled world
and awaken spiritual life within us,
through meditation on your life-giving commandments.
Thus, with enlightened thoughts, the reflections of your grace, our hearts will be purified of vain endeavors,
and we shall glorify you in the holy temple of your majesty,
now and forever.
Amen.
MORNING PSALMS
Psalm 148
Alleluia.
Praise the Lord from the heavens,
praise him in the heights;

Praise him, all you his angels,
praise him, all you his hosts.

Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.

Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens.

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for he commanded and they were created;

He established them forever and ever;
he gave them a duty which shall not pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth,
you sea monsters and all depths;

Fire and hail, snow and mist,
storm winds that fulfill his word;

You mountains and all you hills,
you fruit trees and all you cedars;

You wild beasts and all tame animals,
you creeping things and you winged fowl.

Let the kings of the earth and all peoples,
the princes and all the judges of the earth,

Young men too, and maidens,
old men and boys,

Praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;

His majesty is above earth and heaven,
and he has lifted up the horn of his people.

Be this his praise from all his faithful ones,
from the children of Israel, the people close to him.

Alleluia.
Psalm 149:1-6
Alleluia.
Sing to the Lord a new song
of praise in the assembly of the faithful.

Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.

Let them praise his name in the festive dance,
let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.

For the Lord loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.

Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing joy upon their couches;

Let the high praises of God be in their throats.

Alleluia.

Psalm 150
Alleluia.
Praise the Lord in his sanctuary,
praise him in the firmament of his strength.

Praise him for his mighty deeds,
praise him for his sovereign majesty.

Praise him with the blast of the trumpet,
praise him with lyre and harp.

Praise him with timbrel and dance,
praise him with strings and pipe.

Praise him with sounding cymbals,
praise him with clanging cymbals.

Let everything that has breath
praise the Lord!
Alleluia.
Psalm 117

glorify him, all you peoples!

Alleluia.
HOOSOYO

Praise, glory and honor to the One who created all things through his Word;
he established all in his wisdom and stretched forth the heavens.

SEDRO
Lord,
we beg and implore you:
through this incense (prayers) which we offer you in
our lowliness,
pardon your servants who have knowingly or unknowingly
sinned and done evil in your sight,
Pardon the faults of those who have believed and confessed your only beloved Son, Christ Jesus our Lord.
We ask you especially to forgive your servants who bow down
before you,
and beg pardon and remission of their sins and faults.
Lord, all-powerful God,
forgive them in your goodness,
through the intercession of the angels and the faithful who have been pleasing to you in word and deed.
May your mercy and forgiveness be upon us and upon them,
and we shall give glory to you, your only Son and your
Holy Spirit,
now and forever.
Amen.
QOLO
Holy are you, O God, in your compassion you have given life
to our sinful nature.
Holy are you, O Strong One, in your love you have cleansed us of our blemishes and washed them away in your compassion.
Holy are you, O Immortal One, you have given us life and washed away our iniquity.
Glory to you because of your love for us; through your mercy
sinners have obtained the forgiveness of their sins. They adore you unceasingly.
Lord, grant forgiveness to all sinners who beg you, in your goodness, to pardon their faults.
Make us worthy to stand at your right hand and to glorify your grace forever.

ETRO
Kind and merciful Lord,
we ask that the fragrance of this incense (our prayers)
be pleasing to you,
and obtain for us the forgiveness of sins, the pardon of faults, blessings upon the harvest, compassion for the baptized,
peace for the nations,
safety for the Church, and the protection of her children.
May your name be praised, now and forever.
Amen.
READINGS
MAZMOORO
Lord of light, your light has shone upon your creatures, and
dispelled the deadly darkness of unbelief.
Lord of light, remember your Church which you have upheld
and dispel from her the deadly darkness of unbelief.
O Jesus, your flock implores you amid their sufferings and tears; in your kindness, deliver them from the evils that surround
them.
SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the Book of Revelation
Revelation 18: 1-
24
After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth became illumined by his splendor. He cried out in a mighty voice: “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great. She has become a haunt for demons. She is a cage for every unclean spirit, a cage for every unclean bird, [a cage for every unclean] and disgusting beast. For all the nations have drunk the wine of her licentious passion. The kings of the earth had intercourse with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her drive for luxury.”
Then I heard another voice from heaven say: “Depart from her, my people, so as not to take part in her sins and receive a share in her plagues, for her sins are piled up to the sky, and God remembers her crimes. Pay her back as she has paid others. Pay her back double for her deeds. Into her cup pour double what she poured. To the measure of her boasting and wantonness repay her in torment and grief; for she said to herself, ‘I sit enthroned as queen; I am no widow, and I will never know grief.’ Therefore, her plagues will come in one day, pestilence, grief, and famine; she will be consumed by fire. For mighty is the Lord God who judges her.”
The kings of the earth who had intercourse with her in their wantonness will weep and mourn over her when they see the smoke of her pyre. They will keep their distance for fear of the torment inflicted on her, and they will say: “Alas, alas, great city, Babylon, mighty city. In one hour your judgment has come.” The merchants of the earth will weep and mourn for her, because there will be no more markets for their cargo: their cargo of gold, silver, precious stones, and pearls; fine linen, purple silk, and scarlet cloth; fragrant wood of every kind, all articles of ivory and all articles of the most expensive wood, bronze, iron, and marble; cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, and frankincense; wine, olive oil, fine flour, and wheat; cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human beings. “The fruit you craved has left you. All your luxury and splendor are gone, never again will one find them.” The merchants who deal in these goods, who grew rich from her, will keep their distance for fear of the torment inflicted on her. Weeping and mourning, they cry out: “Alas, alas, great city, wearing fine linen, purple and scarlet, adorned in gold, precious stones, and pearls. In one hour this great wealth has been ruined.” Every captain of a ship, every traveler at sea, sailors, and seafaring merchants stood at a distance and cried out when they saw the smoke of her pyre, “What city could compare with the great city?”
They threw dust on their heads and cried out, weeping and mourning: “Alas, alas, great city, in which all who had ships at sea grew rich from her wealth. In one hour she has been ruined.
Rejoice over her, heaven, you holy ones, apostles, and prophets. For God
has judged your case against her.” A mighty angel picked up a stone like a huge millstone and threw it into the sea and said: “With such force will Babylon the great city be thrown down, and will never be found again. No melodies of harpists and musicians, flutists and trumpeters, will ever be heard in you again. No craftsmen in any trade will ever be found in you again. No sound of the millstone will ever be heard in you again. No light from a lamp will ever be seen in you again. No voices of bride and groom will ever be heard in you again. Because your merchants were the great ones of the world, all nations were led astray by your magic potion. In her was found the blood of prophets and holy ones and all who have been slain on the earth.”
