PSALMODY
FIRST PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Lord,
each morning we acknowledge your name.
Deign to acknowledge us, on your great Morning
when, in your justice, you will judge us.
In your goodness, do not disown us,
for we find refuge in you,
and call upon you, our Lord and God.
To you be glory forever.
Amen.
PSALM OF THE DAY
Antiphon:
Give thanks to the Lord,
invoke his name.

Psalm 105: 1-10
Give thanks to the Lord, invoke his name;
make known among the nations his deeds.

Sing to him, sing his praise,
proclaim all his wondrous deeds.

Glory in his holy name;
rejoice, O hearts that seek the Lord!

Look to the Lord in his strength;
seek to serve him constantly.

Recall the wondrous deeds that he has wrought,
his portents, and the judgments he has uttered,

You descendants of Abraham, his servants,
sons of Jacob, his chosen ones!

He, the Lord, is our God;
throughout the earth his judgments prevail.

He remembers forever his covenant
which he made binding for a thousand generations—

Which he entered into with Abraham
and by his oath to Isaac;

Which he established for Jacob by statute,
for Israel as an everlasting covenant,

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,
now and forever. Amen.

Antiphon:
Give thanks to the Lord,
invoke his name.

SECOND PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Glory to you, Creator of the light that dispels darkness
and gives joy to your creatures.
Create in us, Lord, works of light;
disperse the clouds of sin and fill us with the glorious
radiance of your grace,
for in you we find refuge and call upon you, our Lord and our God,
to you be glory forever.
Amen.
NUHRO (LIGHT OF HYMN)
The Light of the just and joy of the upright is Christ Jesus our Lord.
Begotten of the Father, he manifested himself to us.
He came to rescue us from darkness and to fill us with the radiance of his light.

Day is dawning upon us; the power of darkness is fading away, From the true Light there arises for us the Light which illumines our darkened eyes.

His glory shines upon the world and enlightens the very depths of the abyss.
Death is annihilated, night has vanished, and the gates of Sheol are broken.
Creatures lying in darkness from ancient times are clothed in light.
The dead arise from the dust and sing because they have a Savior.

He brings salvation and grants us life.
He ascends to his Father on high.
He will return in glorious splendor and shed his light on those gazing upon him.

Our King comes in majestic glory.
Let us light our lamps and go forth to meet him.
Let us find our joy in him, for he has found joy in us.
He will indeed rejoice us with his marvelous light.

Let us glorify the majesty of the Son and give thanks to
the almighty Father, who,
in an outpouring of love, sent him to us, to fill us with hope and salvation.

When he manifests himself, the saints awaiting him in
weariness and sorrow,
will go forth to meet him with lighted lamps.

The angels and guardians of heaven will rejoice in the glory of the just and upright people of earth;
together, crowned with victory, they will sing hymns and psalms.

Stand up then and be ready!
Give thanks to our King and Savior, who will come in great glory to gladden us with his marvelous light in his kingdom.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Alleluia.

THIRD PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Lord of might,
we beg you to hear our prayer and petitions.
Restore our consciences that have been deformed by sin,
dress our wounds,
and pour upon us the oil of your kindness.
Thus, walking calm and secure amid the waves of this world’s
ocean,
we shall offer you at all times the fruits of thanksgiving pleasing to you.
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, to you be glory,
now and forever.
Amen.
MORNING PSALMS
Psalm 148
Alleluia.
Praise the Lord from the heavens,
praise him in the heights;

Praise him, all you his angels,
praise him, all you his hosts.

Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.

Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens.

Let them praise the name of the Lord,
for he commanded and they were created;

He established them forever and ever;
he gave them a duty which shall not pass away.

Praise the Lord from the earth,
you sea monsters and all depths;

Fire and hail, snow and mist,
storm winds that fulfill his word;

You mountains and all you hills,
you fruit trees and all you cedars;

You wild beasts and all tame animals,
you creeping things and you winged fowl.

Let the kings of the earth and all peoples,
the princes and all the judges of the earth,

Young men too, and maidens,
old men and boys,

Praise the name of the Lord,
for his name alone is exalted;

His majesty is above earth and heaven,
and he has lifted up the horn of his people.

Be this his praise from all his faithful ones,
from the children of Israel, the people close to him.

Alleluia.
Psalm 149:1-6
Alleluia.
Sing to the Lord a new song
of praise in the assembly of the faithful.

Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.

Let them praise his name in the festive dance,
let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.

For the Lord loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.

Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing joy upon their couches;

Let the high praises of God be in their throats.

Alleluia.
Psalm 150
Alleluia.
Praise the Lord in his sanctuary,
praise him in the firmament of his strength.

Praise him for his mighty deeds,
praise him for his sovereign majesty.

Praise him with the blast of the trumpet,
praise him with lyre and harp.

Praise him with timbrel and dance,
praise him with strings and pipe.

Praise him with sounding cymbals,
praise him with clanging cymbals.

Let everything that has breath
praise the Lord!
Alleluia.
Psalm 117
Praise the Lord, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endures forever.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and forever. Amen.

Alleluia.

HOOSOYO
PROEMION
Praise, glory and honor to the splendid Dawn whose light never fades,
the radiant Son whose beams ever shine,
the bright Day whose light is unchanging,
the resplendent Sea of light that illumines all creatures,
the hidden Child revealed from the mysterious Father before
the star of light.

SEDRO
Be praised and glorified, O God, who created light and dispelled the darkness.
You have taken us from the sleep of error and granted us this morning to fill us with joy.
You reveal to us the light of your creative power
and the sublime grandeur of your wisdom,
for you created the heavens and spread the earth over the waters.
We beg you to keep us from the places where sin lies in wait
to wound the virtues within us.
Illumine our souls with the rays of your love
and the hope of your glorious manifestation of that great Dawn that will never end.
In all our actions and conduct,
may the presence of your light and the splendor of your revelation guide us to eternal happiness.
Joyfully we shall sing praise to you, O Christ, the light of truth, and to your Father, the Father of mercy,
and to your life-giving Spirit, light of all beings,
now and forever.
Amen.
QOLO
Holy are you, O God, in your compassion you have given life to our corrupt nature.
Holy are you, O Strong One, in your love you have purified us from our sins, in your mercy you have washed them away.

Holy are you, O Immortal One, you have given us life and
purified us from our iniquity.
Glory to you because of your love for our human race. In your kindness sinners have obtained the forgiveness of their sins.
Unceasingly they adore you and call upon your name.
Lord, grant pardon to all the sinners who beg you, in your
goodness, to pardon their faults. Make us worthy to stand at your right hand and glorify your grace forever.
ETRO
O Incense of sweet aroma and pleasing fragrance,
that filled the whole earth with the aroma of your divine gifts, accept the fragrance of this incense (our prayer)
which we offer you.
Grant that it may bring joy to our souls,
pardon of our faults, the forgiveness of our sins,
and rest to all the faithful departed.
To you be glory forever.
Amen.
READINGS
MAZMOORO
At dawn it is fitting to pray; let us praise and adore the heavenly King.
At dawn, hear us, for it is fitting to pray. At dawn we shall behold the heavenly King.
Glory to the One who said: “Ask and you shall receive, knock
and I shall open the door to contrite hearts.”
SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the Letter to the Galatians
Galatians 4: 21-5: 1
You who want to be subject to the law, tell me: do you know what the law has to say? There it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave girl, the other by his freeborn wife.
The son of the slave girl had been begotten in the course of nature, but the son of the free woman was the fruit of the promise. All this is an allegory: the two women stand for the two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, and brought forth children to slavery; this is Hagar.
The mountain Sinai, Hagar, is in Arabia and corresponds to the Jerusalem of our time, which is likewise in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem on high is freeborn, and it is she who is our mother. That is why Scripture says: “Rejoice, you barren one who bear no children; break into song, you stranger to the pains of childbirth! For many are the children of the wife deserted—far more than of her who has a husband!” You, my brother, are children of the promise, as Isaac was. But just as in those days the son born in nature’s course persecuted the one whose birth was in the realm of spirit, so do we find it now. What does Scripture say on the point? “Cast out slave girl and son together; for the slave girl’s son shall never be an heir on equal terms with the son” of the one born free. Therefore, my brother, we are not children of a slave girl but of a mother who is free. It was for liberty that Christ freed us. So stand firm, and do not take on yourselves the yoke of slavery a second time!
