Friday Evening Second Full Week after Epiphany

Saturday Ramsho

INTRODUCTION
DOXOLOGY
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as we begin and until we conclude.
May mercy and compassion be poured forth upon us
in this world and the next.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory forever.
Amen

OPENING PRAYER
Christ Jesus our Lord,
strength of the just, hope of the saints and refuge of believers, let your light and grace shine upon our parents, brothers
and sisters, and teachers, and on all who have died in the faith and who dwell in the depths; lift from their faces the mask of gloom.
O Lover of your people, be compassionate toward them,
and they will give glory to you forever.
Amen.

GREETING
Peace be with the Church and her children.

PRAISE OF THE ANGELS
Glory to God in the highest,
and peace on earth and good will to all.

Praise the Lord all you nations,
glorify him all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endures forever
.
Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and forever, and peace on earth and good will to all.

PSALMODY
FIRST PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.

In your infinite goodness, O Lord,
grant a place among the saints in the dwelling of life and joy to our parents,
brothers and sisters and teachers who have gone to you in sincere faith and the hope of gladness.
Grant us to share with them in the inheritance of the saints.
Our Lord and God, to you be glory forever.
Amen.

PSALM OF THE DAY
Antiphon:
Every day will I bless you,
and I will praise your name forever and ever.

Psalm 145
I will extol you, O my God and King,
and I will bless your name forever and ever.

Every day will I bless you,
and I will praise your name forever and ever.

Great is the Lord and highly to be praised;
his greatness is unsearchable.

Generation after generation praises your works
and proclaims your might.

They speak of the splendor of your glorious majesty
and tell of your wondrous works.

They discourse of the power of your terrible deeds
and declare your greatness.

They publish the fame of your abundant goodness
and joyfully sing of your justice.

The Lord is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and of great kindness.

The Lord is good to all
and compassionate toward all his works.

Let all your works give you thanks, O Lord,
and let your faithful ones bless you.

Let them discourse of the glory of your kingdom
and speak of your might,

making known to men your might
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.

Your kingdom is a kingdom for all ages,
and your dominion endures through all generations.

The Lord is faithful in all his words
and holy in all his works.

The Lord lifts up all who are falling
and raises up all who are bowed down.

The eyes of all look hopefully to you,
and you give them their food in due season;

You open your hand
and satisfy the desire of every living thing.

The Lord is just in all his ways
and holy in all his works.

The Lord is near to all who call upon him,
to all who call upon him in truth.

He fulfills the desire of those who fear him,
he hears their cry and saves them.

The Lord keeps all who love him,
but all the wicked he will destroy.

May my mouth speak the praises of the Lord,
and may all flesh bless his holy name forever and ever.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever.
Amen.

Antiphon:
Every day will I bless you,
and I will praise your name for ever and ever.

SECOND PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.

O Lord,
prepare for us a place in that world of happiness and glory
that you have made ready for your chosen ones;
grant eternal rest to all those who in sincere faith have
left this passing world.
Forgive them and all our faults,
and with all the saints we shall give thanks to you.
To you be glory, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit,
now and forever.
Amen.

EVENING PSALMS
Psalm 141:1-4
O Lord, to you I call; hasten to me;
harken to my voice when I call upon you.

Let my prayer come like incense before you;
the lifting up of my hands, like the evening sacrifice.

O Lord, set a watch before my mouth,
a guard at the door of my lips.

Let not my heart incline to the evil
of engaging in deeds of wickedness

with men who are evildoers;
and let me not partake of their dainties.

Psalm 142
With a loud voice I cry out to the Lord;
with a loud voice I beseech the Lord.

My complaint I pour out before him;
before him I lay bare my distress.

When my spirit is faint within me,
you know my path.

In the way along which I walk
they have hid a trap for me.

I look to the right to see,
but there is no one who pays me heed.

I have lost all means of escape;
there is no one who cares for my life.

I cry out to you, O Lord:
I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land of the living.”

Attend to my cry,
for I am brought low indeed.

Rescue me from my persecutors,
for they are too strong for me.

Lead me forth from prison,
that I may give thanks to your name.

The just shall gather around me
when you have been good to me.

Psalm 119:105-112
A lamp to my feet is your word,
a light to my path.

I resolve and swear
to keep your just ordinances.

I am very much afflicted;
O Lord, give me life according to your word.

Accept, O Lord, the free homage of my mouth,
and teach me your decrees.

Though constantly I take my life in my hands,
yet I forget not your law.

The wicked have laid a snare for me,
but from your precepts I have not strayed.

Your decrees are my inheritance forever;
the joy of my heart they are.

I intend in my heart to fulfill your statutes
always to the letter.

Psalm 117
Praise the Lord, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endures forever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit,
now and forever. Amen.

Alleluia

HOOSOYO
PROEMION
Praise, glory and honor to the One who raises the dead,
and awakens those who sleep in the dust;
God of spirits and bodies, and judge of the living and the dead, known in divine Unity and acclaimed in the Trinity
of persons, he is adored and glorified. To the infinitely Good Lord is due glory and honor this evening, and all the days of our lives, now and forever.
Amen.

SEDRO
O God, we implore you:
when those on your right will be glorified, and those on your left condemned; when the fire of judgment will illumine the just and inflame the impious; when those on each side will have their destiny, with no possibility of change, grant that those who died in the faith, clothed themselves with you and received you, the blessed food for their journey, may behold your smiling face and rest in the heavenly dwelling place of light and joy; in the new Jerusalem, city of the saints, with Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Exalt their memory on your heavenly altar, and when you call us to join them, prepare for us the eternal happiness to which we were called through perfect faith in you.
With them we shall give you glory and thanksgiving, forever.
Amen.

QOLO
Let us remember the prophets and apostles who preached the
truth among the nations; and the martyrs and saints who
obtained the cross of victory.
Let us remember Mary the Mother of God, as well as the Church and her children,
and all who rest in the hope of resurrection.

ETRO
O God,
drawing from your immense and inexhaustible treasure,
we offer you this incense (prayer); for the sanctification of the just and the repentance of sinners; for the repose and happy memory of all who embraced truth and accomplished justice; and especially for your servants whom we remember this day.

Grant them eternal rest in the dwelling place of the just where all rejoice in you; may their prayer intercede for us.
To you be glory forever.
Amen.

READINGS
MAZMOORO
Now, as the sun goes down and night extends its dominion,
Lord, may your mercy be upon us.

Now, as the sun gathers up its rays and darkness envelops the earth,
O Son of God, may your compassion be upon us.

In your mercy, you accepted the offering of the righteous before us,
accept now our praise and receive our prayer.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the Gospel of John
John 5: 17-29
But Jesus answered them, “My Father is at work until now, so I am at work.” For this reason the Jews tried all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath but he also called God his own father, making himself equal to God. Jesus answered and said to them, “Amen, amen, I say to you, a son cannot do anything on his own, but only what he sees his father doing; for what he does, his son will do also. For the Father loves his Son and shows him everything that he himself does, and he will show him greater works than these, so that you may be amazed.
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives life, so also does the Son give life to whomever he wishes. Nor does the Father judge anyone, but he has given all judgment to his Son, so that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. Whoever does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. Amen, amen, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes in the one who sent me has eternal life and will not come to condemnation, but has passed from death to life. Amen, amen, I say to you, the hour is coming and is now here when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. For just as the Father has life in himself, so also he gave to his Son the possession of life in himself. And he gave him power to exercise judgment, because he is the Son of Man. Do not be amazed at this, because the hour is coming in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice and will come out, those who have done good deeds to the resurrection of life, but those who have done wicked deeds to the resurrection of condemnation.

SUPPLICATION
Son of God, grant eternal rest to your servants
in the heavenly kingdom with your saints.

Son of God, whose voice calls forth the dead from the tomb,
hear our petitions and forgive your servants who have departed from us.

On that great Dawn when all secrets will be judged and all hidden deeds revealed;
when the trumpet will summon the dead descendants of Adam and all will stand before the throne of God;

when all the nations of the world will be in array before him, and each person,
with no adornment save his deeds, will stand before him;

at that moment, when justice will follow its course, be compassionate toward the people you have saved, O Son of God.
By your merciful power, give life to those you have redeemed by your blood,
and rescue from the darkness those who have partaken of your body.

Glory to the Father, who has commanded the judgment of all human beings;
adoration to the Son, whose judgment is perfect;
thanksgiving to the Spirit, who rejects privilege and glory be to God!

O Christ who prayed that the cup of death might pass away from you,
take away from us the cup of the second death, and have mercy on us.

Exalt, O Lord, the memory of your Mother and your saints;
through their prayers grant pardon to us and our deceased.

HOOTOMO
Let us thank, adore, and praise the holy and glorious Trinity: Father, Son, + and Holy Spirit. Amen.

TRISAGION
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy

Holy are you, O God;
Holy are you, O Strong One;
Holy are you, O Immortal One;
have mercy on us.

Lord, have mercy on us.
Lord, forgive us and have mercy on us.
Lord, hear us and have mercy on us.
Lord, accept our worship and our prayers.
Lord, come to our assistance and have mercy on us.

LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who are in heaven;
hallowed be your name;
your kingdom come;
your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil,
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours,
now and forever.
Amen.

O Lord, the night and the day are yours;
you uphold the light and the sun.
Through your power you direct
the sequence of the seasons.
O Lord,

you have brought the day to its close and called forth the night; be for us that great Day that never ends.
In the evening let your light shine in our hearts,
and in the darkness of the night,
enlighten us with the knowledge of your truth.
And so, through all the days of our lives,
we shall praise you, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
To you be glory and may your mercy rest upon us,
now and forever.
Amen.

EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE
Let us thank God for all the graces he has bestowed on us
this day which has passed in calm and peace.

Let us recall our failings against the commandments
of God and the Church in thought, word, deed or omission.

We ask for God’s pardon as we pray:
“Forgive us, Jesus!”

Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Glory be to you, O Lord.
Glory be to you, O Lord.
Glory be to you, O Lord.

God,
Father in heaven,
by your living and holy name,
keep us from evil and lead us not into temptation;
for we call upon you, O Lord, our God, our constant hope,
glory to you forever.

O Lord, our Lord,
may our humble worship be pleasing to you;
may our prayers come before you
and our actions give you honor.
Let you mercy, kindness, help, graces and divine love
be poured abundantly upon us poor sinners,
both in heaven and on the earth
which you have created in your goodness.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory forever.
Amen.

DISMISSAL
Peace be with you.
And with your spirit.

O God,
through the prayers of your Mother and the saints who have
believed in you; through the prayers of the prophets, apostles, martyrs and confessors; through the prayers of the just, the priests, the holy fathers, the pastors and teachers of the true faith;
through the prayers of N., Pope of Rome, N., our Patriarch, and N., our Bishop,
forgive your people and have mercy on your flock.

May God bless, forgive, sanctify, purify, and keep each of the faithful united with us in this spiritual office.
May mercy and compassion be upon us
and all the faithful who dwell here.
May peaceful rest be granted to those who have died in the faith.
May the faithful who live here experience the protection of his victorious cross.
May we and all his servants, who adore him with bowed heads,
receive the mercy of the holy and glorious Trinity
Father, Son, + Holy Spirit, to whom be glory now and forever.
Amen.

May God forgive your sins,
pardon your failings,
and deliver you from the power of the enemy.
May he grant you the remission of your offenses.
Go in peace, and pray to Christ for me.
