Monday Evening

TUESDAY Ramsho

INTRODUCTION

DOXOLOGY

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as we begin and until we conclude.
May mercy and compassion be poured forth upon us
in this world and the next.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory for ever. Amen.

OPENING PRAYER
O Christ,
grant us the joy of the resurrection,
as we raise our hands in supplication,
so that our hearts may pray to you
and we may meditate on your mysteries.
May we be worthy to obtain the blessings of your resurrection and share in your joy for which we hope,
and so praise and glorify you,
now and for ever. Amen.

GREETING
Peace be with the Church and her children.
PRAISE OF THE ANGELS

Glory to God in the highest,
and peace on earth and good will to all.

Praise the Lord all you nations,
glorify him all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy towards us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever.
and peace on earth and good will to all.

PSALMODY
FIRST PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Lord,
grant us, on this joyful memorial of your resurrection, the joy which never ends.
You have called us since the day of your resurrection, saying to your faithful servants:
“Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
Thus we shall glorify you with the angels and the elect in your heavenly kingdom, for ever.
Amen

PSALM OF THE DAY
Antiphon:
Shout joyfully to God, all you on earth, sing praise
to the glory of his name.

Psalm 66
Shout joyfully to God, all you on earth,
sing praise to the glory of his name;
proclaim his glorious praise.

Say to God, “How tremendous are your deeds!
for your great strength your enemies fawn upon you.

Let all on earth worship and sing praise to you,
sing praise to your name!”

Come and see the works of God,
his tremendous deeds among men.

He has changed the sea into dry land;
through the river they passed on foot;
therefore let us rejoice in him.

He rules by his might forever;
his eyes watch the nations;
rebels may not exalt themselves.
Bless our God, you peoples,
loudly sound his praise;

He has given life to our souls,

and has not let our feet slip.

For you have tested us, O God!
You have tried us as silver is tried by fire;

You have brought us into a snare;
you laid a heavy burden on our backs.

You let men ride over our heads;
we went through fire and water,
but you have led us out to refreshment.

I will bring holocausts to your house;
to you I will fulfill the vows

Which my lips uttered
and my words promised in my distress.

Holocausts of fatlings I will offer you,
with burnt offerings of rams;
I will sacrifice oxen and goats.

Hear now, all you who fear God, while I declare
what he has done for me.

When I appealed to him in words,
praise was on the tip of my tongue.

Were I to cherish wickedness in my heart,
the LORD would not hear;

But God has heard;
he has hearkened to the sound of my prayer.

Blessed be God who refused me not
my prayer of his kindness!

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

Antiphon:
Shout joyfully to God, all you on earth, sing praise
to the glory of his name.

SECOND PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Christ,
we thank you for your resurrection
and the glory you obtained.
Your resurrection is the hope of our own

and your glory the image of ours.
You shared your resurrection and glory with us
since you assumed our human nature.
Help us to merit one day that resurrection and that glory, and so praise you in your kingdom, for ever. Amen.

EVENING PSALMS
Psalm 141: 1-4
O LORD, to you I call; hasten to me;
hearken to my voice when I call upon you;

Let my prayer come like incense before you;
the lifting up of my hands, like the evening sacrifice.

O LORD, set a watch before my mouth,
a guard at the door of my lips.

Let not my heart incline to the evil
of engaging in deeds of wickedness

With men who are evildoers;
and let me not partake of their dainties.

Psalm 142
With a loud voice I cry out to the LORD;
with a loud voice I beseech the LORD.

My complaint I pour out before him;
before him I lay bare my distress.

When my spirit is faint within me,
you know my path.

In the way along which I walk
they have hid a trap for me.

I look to the right to see,
but there is no one who pays me heed.

I have lost all means of escape;
there is no one who cares for my life.

I cry out to you, O LORD:
I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land
of the living.”

Attend to my cry,
for I am brought low indeed.

Rescue me from my persecutors,
for they are too strong for me.

Lead me forth from prison,
that I may give thanks to your name.

The just shall gather around me
when you have been good to me.

Psalm 119: 105-112
A lamp to my feet is your word,
a light to my path.

I resolve and swear
to keep your just ordinances.

I am very much afflicted;
O LORD, give me life according to your word.

Accept, O LORD, the free homage of my mouth,
and teach me your decrees.

Though constantly I take my life in my hands,
yet I forget not your law.

The wicked have laid a snare for me,
but from your precepts I have not strayed.

Your decrees are my inheritance forever;
the joy of my heart they are.

I intend in my heart to fulfill your statutes
always to the letter.

Psalm 117

Praise the LORD, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy towards us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

HOOSOYO
PROEMION
Praise, glory and honor to the Living One
who by his death placed within us the hope of eternal life.
He was raised to life and by his resurrection gave us the glory of resurrection.
Through his death and resurrection
he became our image, in his humiliation and in his glory.
To the Good One is due glory an honor this evening,
and all the days of our lives,
now and for ever. Amen.

SEDRO
O Lord,
today we experience the joy of your glorious resurrection and remember your wonderful plan of salvation.
We sing with the prophet, David:
“Praise the Lord with a new hymn.”
Praise him with the angels,
for they have descended to his tomb and announced the good news of his resurrection
just as they descended to the cave and announced the good news of his birth.
Praise him with the women who came to the tomb in the morning with aromatic perfumes,
asking themselves who will roll back the stone so that they might embalm the dead.

The came back from the tomb announcing his resurrection, having seen the stone rolled back and the dead risen.
Praise him with Peter and John who hastened to go to the tomb, they saw the bandages and shroud rolled up and believed in the resurrection of the Lord which they had not seen.
Praise him with the disciples who were gathered together for fear of the Jews.
He appeared among them and gave them his peace,
he showed them his hands and his side,
and he sent them as the Father had sent him.
He breathed on them and said:
“Receive the Holy Spirit,” and they were filled with a great joy.
Praise him with the just ones who are asleep and whom he visited.
He lighted up the dark places of their sleep,
announced the resurrection and salvation to them,
and promised them the resurrection of glory.
Praise him with the whole Church,
who celebrates the resurrection with great joy in her churches and monasteries,
exults at his triumph over death and rejoices in the glory of his resurrection.
May the heavens and the earth praise you, O Christ our God, because you have associated them in your salvation,
so that they may become the new heavens and the new earth, and all that has life and being might praise you,
now and for ever. Amen.

QOLO
Holy are you, O God, after three days you were raised from the tomb, so that your body might not experience corruption.

Holy are you, O Strong One, you trampled death, crushed Satan and gave life to the children of men.

Holy are you, O Immortal One, you conquered death and raised the dead to eternal life.

ETRO
O Christ,
console the living and the dead with the hope of the
resurrection.
For without this hope we are the most unhappy of people, but with it, we are filled with joy.

May this hope light up the pathways of our life
and may we go to meet you with our lamps brightly burning, and so enter your kingdom and live with you, for ever. Amen.

READINGS
MAZMOORO
Christ was raised from the dead and death no longer has power over him.

Look at my hands and my feet; it is I! A spirit has neither flesh nor bones as you see I have.

Blessed be Christ who has been raised from the dead,
and who gave us life and joy.

SYNAXARION

SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the Book of Exodus
Exodus 16: 1-18
Having set out from Elim, the whole Israelite community came into the desert of Sin, which is between Elim and Sinai, on the fifteenth day of the second month after their departure from the land of Egypt. Here in the desert the whole Israelite community grumbled against Moses and Aaron. The Israelites said to them, “Would that we had died at the LORD’s hand in the land of Egypt, as we sat by our fleshpots and ate our fill of bread! But you had to lead us into this desert to make the whole community die of famine!” Then the LORD said to Moses, “I will now rain down bread from heaven for you. Each day the people are to go out and gather their daily portion; thus will I test them, to see whether they follow my instructions or not. On the sixth day, however, when they prepare what they bring in, let it be twice as much as they gather on the other days.” So Moses and Aaron told all the Israelites, “At evening you will know that it was the LORD
who brought you out of the land of Egypt; and in the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, as he heeds your grumbling against him. But what are we that you should grumble against us? When the LORD gives you flesh to eat in the evening,” continued Moses, “and in the morning your fill of bread, as he heeds the grumbling you utter against him, what then are we? Your grumbling is not against us, but against the LORD.”
Then Moses said to Aaron, “Tell the whole Israelite community: Present yourselves before the LORD, for he has heard your grumbling.” When Aaron announced this to the whole Israelite community, they turned toward the desert, and lo, the glory of the LORD
appeared in the cloud! The LORD spoke to Moses and said, “I have heard the grumbling of the Israelites. Tell them: In the evening twilight you shall eat flesh, and in the morning you shall have your fill of bread, so that you may know that I, the LORD, am your God.”

In the evening quail came up and covered the camp. In the morning a dew lay all about the camp, and when the dew evaporated, there on the surface of the desert were fine flakes like hoarfrost on the ground. On seeing it, the Israelites asked one another, “What is this?” for they did not know what it was. But Moses told them,
“This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat. “Now, this is what the LORD
has commanded. So gather it that everyone has enough to eat, an omer for each person, as many of you as there are, each man providing for those of his own tent.” The Israelites did so. Some gathered a large and some a small amount. But when they measured it out by the omer, he who had gathered a large amount did not have too much, and he who had gathered a small amount did not have too little. They so gathered that everyone had enough to eat.
SUPPLICATION
O Son, by your resurrection, you saved your Church from error; hear our supplication and have mercy on us.

You reconciled heaven and earth, grant peace to your Church and keep her children in the light of the cross.

Fear not! He who was raised does not wish you harm; he is the Lord of life and death. Believe in him and you will obtain life and salvation.

O Women, have no fear! It is the angel of the Lord who rolled back the stone. Jesus whom you seek is no longer here; he was raised to life from death.

O Apostles, fear not! He who said that he would rise again, he whom you saw degraded and despised, has risen, he is alive!
Go announce his resurrection to all the world.

thanksgiving to the Holy Spirit,
who marked us with the seal of every blessing and love.
