Tuesday Morning the healing of the paralytic

TUESDAY Safro

INTRODUCTION

DOXOLOGY

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as we begin and until we conclude.
May mercy and compassion be poured forth upon us
in this world and the next.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory for ever. Amen.

OPENING PRAYER
Lord God,
you are the Light who shone upon those who were in darkness, and they were illumined,
upon the blind, and they recovered their sight.
Let your face shine upon us, and we shall be illumined by you, walk in the way of your gospel teachings
and glorify the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen.

GREETING
Peace be with the Church and her children.
PRAISE OF THE ANGELS

Glory to God in the highest,
and peace on earth and good will to all.

Praise the Lord all you nations,
glorify him all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy towards us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever.
and peace on earth and good will to all.

PSALMODY
FIRST PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Lord,
grant us purity of heart and mind and
draw us closer to you during this blessed Lent.
By our fast may we abstain, not only from food and drink, but from jealousy, hatred, pride and egotism.
Then we shall glorify you, as is fitting,
and praise you,
now and for ever. Amen.

PSALM OF THE DAY
PSALM OF THE DAY
Antiphon:
Come! Behold the deeds of the Lord,
the astounding things he has wrought on earth.

Psalm 46
God is our refuge and our strength,
and ever-present help in distress.

Therefore we fear not, though the earth be shaken
and mountains plunge into the depths of the sea;

Though its waters rage and foam
and the mountains quake at its surging.

The Lord of hosts is with us;
our stronghold is the God of Jacob.

There is a stream whose runlets gladden the city of God, the holy dwelling of the Most High.

God is in its midst; it shall not be disturbed;
God will help it at the break of dawn.

Though nations are in turmoil, kingdoms totter,
God will help it at the break of dawn.

The Lord of hosts is with us;
our stronghold is the God of Jacob.

Come! behold the deeds of the Lord,
the astounding things he has wrought on earth:

He has stopped wars to the end of the earth:
the bow he breaks; he splinters the spears;
he burns the shields with fire.

Desist! and confess that I am God,
exalted among the nations, exalted upon the earth.

The Lord of hosts is with us;
our stronghold is the God of Jacob.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

Antiphon:
Come! Behold the deeds of the Lord,
the astounding things he has wrought on earth.

[HYMN]
Blessed are you, O Church, garden of the Beloved!
From a mustard seed, the smallest of all seeds, you have grown.
Your roots are in firm soil, sheltered from the winds; In your branches are the martyrs, they are a display of blood shed for the faith.
The birds quench their thirst at this marvel.
Psalms and prophecies fill your vast space.
You are the land of the Spirit, the meeting place of the nations.
Blessed are you, dwelling place of the guest, neighbor of the One who is near.

SECOND PRAYER
Glory be to you, Word of God,
who took on our human nature to save us and give us life.
By your fasting, you wish to teach us the way of sacrifice and renouncement.
We ask you, this morning, to guide us in your footsteps, and to shine your light upon us, O Christ, the Light from Light.
Then we shall follow you where you go, and give glory to the living Trinity,
now and for ever. Amen.

NUHRO (HYMN OF LIGHT)
The Light of the just and joy of the upright is Christ Jesus, our Lord, Begotten of the Father, he manifested himself to us.
He came to rescue us from darkness and to fill us with the radiance of his light.

Day is dawning upon us; the power of darkness is fading away.
From the true Light there arises for us the light which illumines our darkened eyes.

His glory shines upon the world and enlightens the very depths of the abyss.
Death is annihilated, night has vanished, and the gates of Sheol are broken.

Creatures lying in darkness from ancient times are clothed in light.
The dead arise from the dust and sing because they have a Savior.

He brings salvation and grants us life.
He ascends to his Father on high.
He will return in glorious splendor and shed his light on those gazing upon him.

Our King comes in majestic glory,
Let us light our lamps and go forth to meet him.
Let us find our joy in him, for he has found joy in us.
He will indeed rejoice us with his marvelous light.

Let us glorify the majesty of the Son and give thanks to the almighty Father, who,
in an outpouring of love, sent him to us, to fill us with hope and salvation.

When he manifests himself, the saints awaiting him in weariness and sorrow, will go forth to meet him with lighted lamps.
The angels and guardians of heaven will rejoice in the glory of the just and upright people of the earth;
Together, crowned with victory, they will sing hymns and psalms.

Stand up then and be ready!
Give thanks to our King and Savior, who will come in great glory to gladden us with his marvelous light in his kingdom.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

[HYMN]
At the end of time, when the combat will end,
You will come in glory for the final gathering of the bridal party; You will revive the dead who are sleeping, the scattered and the corrupt;
You will judge your servants with love – this is the happiness of paradise.
What has not occurred to the human heart and what the ear has not heard,
You have prepared as a reward for the combatants, at the fullness of time.

THIRD PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Lord,
purify our thoughts and our bodies, and sanctify our souls, that we may praise and glorify you during this holy Lent.
Increase faith, hope and charity in our hearts and we shall raise three-fold praise to the Holy Trinity,
Father, Son and Holy Spirit, one holy God,
to whom be glory, for ever. Amen.

MORNING PSALMS
Psalm 148
Alleluia.

Praise the LORD from the heavens,
praise him in the heights;

Praise him, all you his angels,
praise him, all you his hosts.

Praise him, sun and moon;
praise him, all you shining stars.

Praise him, you highest heavens,
and you waters above the heavens.

Let them praise the name of the LORD,
for he commanded and they were created;

He established them forever and ever;
he gave them a duty which shall not pass away.

Praise the LORD from the earth;
you see monsters and all depths;

Fire and hail, snow and mist,
storm winds that fulfill his word;

You mountains and all you hills,
you fruit trees and all you cedars;

You wild beasts and all tame animals,
you creeping things and you winged fowl.

Let the kings of the earth and all peoples,
the princes and all the judges of the earth,

Young men too, and maidens,
old men and boys,

Praise the name of the LORD,
for his name alone is exalted;

His majesty is above earth and heaven,
and he has lifted up the horn of his people.

Be this his praise from all his faithful ones,
from the children of Israel, the people close to him.

Alleluia.

Psalm 149: 1-6
Alleluia.

Sing to the LORD a new song
of praise in the assembly of the faithful.

Let Israel be glad in their maker,
let the children of Zion rejoice in their king.

Let them praise his name in the festive dance,
let them sing praise to him with timbrel and harp.

For the LORD loves his people,
and he adorns the lowly with victory.

Let the faithful exult in glory;
let them sing for joy upon their couches;

Let the high praises of God be in their throats.

Alleluia.

Psalm 150
Alleluia.

Praise the LORD in his sanctuary,
praise him in the firmament of his strength.

Praise him for his mighty deeds,
praise him for his sovereign majesty.

Praise him with the blast of the trumpet,
praise him with lyre and harp.

Praise him with timbrel and dance,
praise him with strings and pipe.

Praise him with sounding cymbals,
praise him with clanging cymbals.

Let everything that has breath
praise the LORD!

Alleluia.

Psalm 117

Praise the LORD, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy toward us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

Alleluia.

HOOSOYO
PROEMION
Praise, glory and honor to the great Lord of all, whom all creatures adore;
the Good One, source of infinite goodness;
the merciful One who inclines his ears to the requests and prayers of his servants.
To the Good One is due glory and honor on this morning, and all the days of our lives,
now and for ever. Amen.

SEDRO
Christ our God, eternal Son and Light,
you wished to dwell among us to teach us your divine
commandments and gospel precepts.
You left us the law of fasting and prayer which leads us to salvation.
With joy and pleasure we welcome this time of penance, crying:

Come in peace, blessed Lent, which cleans bodies and
purifies souls;
Come in peace, blessed Lent, which makes us return to our spiritual condition of old,
before we had become material, attached to the earth and its passions.
And now we implore you, Christ our God, to grant us a holy and pure fast.
May we be strangers to every hatred and quarrel and full of pure Christian love.
Strengthen us to persevere in justice, help us to perfect our lives, adorned with evangelical virtues;
may we work for others and their happiness, and reject all egotism and human passions.
O Lord, remember in your kingdom all those who rest in your hope and have believed in your mercy,
through the prayers of your holy Mother, your apostles, martyrs and the just.
We shall give glory and praise to you, your Father and Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

QOLO
Prophets and messengers fasted, and drew closer to God. Our Lord fasted and saved the Church, giving his body as a food and his blood as a drink. Come, let us offer glory to him.

May Christ who saved us by his fasting accept our fast and our prayers. May he adorn our souls with justice and holiness and grant us triumph over evil and sin.

ETRO
O Lord,
in your mercy accept this incense (prayer) which we offer you.
Grant peace to your Church, pardon and blessings to your flock, Remember our dead in your kingdom,
and we shall glorify you, your Father and the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

READINGS
MAZMOORO
Lord, accept our fast and our prayer, as you accepted the fast of our ancestors.

Lord, help your servants to confess you by fasting and prayer, May your just ones praise you with all those who love you.

Glory to the One who said to the repentant: Ask, and you will receive, knock and it will be opened to you.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the Book of Job
Job 16: 1-22
Then Job answered and said: I have heard this sort of thing many times. Wearisome comforters are you all! Is there no end to windy words? Or what sickness have you that you speak on?

I also could talk as you do, were you in my place. I could declaim over you, or wag my head at you; I could strengthen you with talk, or shake my head with silent lips. If I speak, this pain I have will not be checked; if I leave off, it will not depart from me. But now that I am exhausted and stunned, all my company has closed in on me. As a witness there rises up my traducer, speaking openly against me; I am the prey his wrath assails, he gnashes his teeth against me. My enemies lord it over me; their mouths are agape to bite me. They smite me on the cheek insultingly; they are all enlisted against me. God has given me over to the impious; into the clutches of the wicked he has cast me. I was in peace, but he dislodged me; he seized me by the neck and dashed me to pieces. He has set me up for a target; his arrows strike me from all directions, He pierces my sides without mercy, he pours out my gall upon the ground. He pierces me with thrust upon thrust; he attacks me like a warrior. I have fastened sackcloth over my skin, and have laid my brow in the dust. My face is inflamed with weeping and there is darkness over my eyes, Although my hands are free from violence, and my prayer is sincere. O earth, cover not my blood, nor let my outcry come to rest! Even now, behold, my witness is in heaven, and my spokesman is on high. My friends it is who wrong me; before God my eyes drop tears, That he may do justice for a mortal in his presence and decide between a man and his neighbor. For my years are numbered now, and I am on a journey from which I shall not return.
