Friday Evening Sunday of the Hemorrhaging Woman

SATURDAY Ramsho
INTRODUCTION

DOXOLOGY

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as we begin and until we conclude.
May mercy and compassion be poured forth upon us
in this world and the next.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory for ever. Amen.

OPENING PRAYER
Lord God,
open our mouths to praise you and guide us in the right path that leads to you.
Then we shall spend this holy Lent in joy and gladness, reach the glorious resurrection,
and give praise and glory to you,
your Father and Holy Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen.

GREETING
Peace be with the Church and her children.
PRAISE OF THE ANGELS

Glory to God in the highest,
and peace on earth and good will to all.

Praise the Lord all you nations,
glorify him all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy towards us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever.
and peace on earth and good will to all.

PSALMODY
FIRST PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O Lover of all,
accept our fasting.
Hear our prayer,
and our souls will be sanctified by you
and we shall do your will with joy.
You are our hope and joy;
to you be adoration and praise,
now and for ever. Amen.

PSALM 51
Psalm 51: 3-19
Have mercy on me, O God, in your goodness;
in the greatness of your compassion
wipe out my offense.

Thoroughly wash me from my guilt
and of my sin cleanse me.

For I acknowledge my offense,
and my sin is before me always:

“Against you only have I sinned,
and done what is evil in your sight”

That you may be justified in your sentence,
vindicated when you condemn.

Indeed, in guilt was I born,
and in sin my mother conceived me;

Behold, you are pleased with sincerity of heart,
and in my inmost being you teach me wisdom.

Cleanse me of sin with hyssop, that I may be purified;
wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Let me hear the sounds of joy and gladness;
the bones you have crushed shall rejoice.

Turn away your face from my sins,
and blot out all my guilt.

A clean heart create for me, O God,
and a steadfast spirit renew within me.

Cast me not out from your presence,
and your holy spirit take not from me.

Give me back the joy of your salvation,
and a willing spirit sustain in me.

I will teach transgressors your ways,
and sinners shall return to you.

Free me from blood guilt, O God, my saving God;
then my tongue shall revel in your justice.

O LORD, open my lips,
and my mouth shall proclaim your praise.

For you are not pleased with sacrifices;
should I offer a holocaust, you would not
accept it.

My sacrifice, O God, is a contrite spirit;
a heart contrite and humbled, O God,
you will not spurn.
To you returns the praise, O God.

PSALM OF THE DAY
Antiphon:
Only in God is my soul at rest;
from him comes my salvation.

Psalm 62
Only in God is my soul at rest;
from him comes my salvation.

He only is my rock and my salvation,
my stronghold; I shall not be disturbed at all.

How long will you set upon a man and all together beat him down as though he were a sagging fence, a battered wall?

Truly from my place on high they plan to dislodge me; they delight in lies;

They bless with their mouths,
but inwardly they curse.

Only in God be a rest, my soul,
for from him comes my hope.

He only is my rock and my salvation,
my stronghold; I shall not be disturbed.

With God is my safety and my glory,
he is the rock of my strength; my refuge is in God.

Trust in him at all times, O my People!
Pour out your hearts before him; God is our refuge!

Only a breath are mortal men;
an illusion are men of rank;

In a balance they prove lighter,
all together, than a breath.

Trust not in extortion; in plunder take no empty pride; though wealth abound, set not your heart upon it.

One thing God said; these two things which I heard:]
that power belongs to God, and yours, O Lord, is kindness; and that you render to everyone according to his deeds.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

Antiphon:
Only in God is my soul at rest;
from him comes my salvation.

SECOND PRAYER
Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
Glory to you, Word of God,
you became man for us,

sanctified our desires and caused your Spirit to reign over us.
On this evening, receive our prayer and sanctify our Lent that we may live for you, and come to meet you in your kingdom, where we shall glorify you with the saints, for ever. Amen.

EVENING PSALMS
Psalm 141: 1-4
O LORD, to you I call; hasten to me;
hearken to my voice when I call upon you;

Let my prayer come like incense before you;
the lifting up of my hands, like the evening sacrifice.

O LORD, set a watch before my mouth,
a guard at the door of my lips.

Let not my heart incline to the evil
of engaging in deeds of wickedness

With men who are evildoers;
and let me not partake of their dainties.

Psalm 142
With a loud voice I cry out to the LORD;
with a loud voice I beseech the LORD.

My complaint I pour out before him;
before him I lay bare my distress.

When my spirit is faint within me,
you know my path.

In the way along which I walk
they have hid a trap for me.

I look to the right to see,
but there is no one who pays me heed.

I have lost all means of escape;
there is no one who cares for my life.

I cry out to you, O LORD:
I say, “You are my refuge, my portion in the land
of the living.”

Attend to my cry,
for I am brought low indeed.

Rescue me from my persecutors,
for they are too strong for me.

Lead me forth from prison,
that I may give thanks to your name.

The just shall gather around me
when you have been good to me.

Psalm 119: 105-112
A lamp to my feet is your word,
a light to my path.

I resolve and swear
to keep your just ordinances.

I am very much afflicted;
O LORD, give me life according to your word.

Accept, O LORD, the free homage of my mouth,
and teach me your decrees.

Though constantly I take my life in my hands,
yet I forget not your law.

The wicked have laid a snare for me,
but from your precepts I have not strayed.

Your decrees are my inheritance forever;
the joy of my heart they are.

I intend in my heart to fulfill your statutes
always to the letter.

Psalm 117

Praise the LORD, all you nations;
glorify him, all you peoples!

For steadfast is his mercy towards us,
and the truth of the Lord endures for ever.

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, now and for ever. Amen.

[SOOGHITO/HYMN]
O Lord, we have battled in your arena to the point of exhaustion.
We have borne the day of combat and the heat of ordeal.
In the service of your covenant, we have kept watch
during the night, confident in the fulfillment of your promise, We have made use of our talents with no concern for the pain.
On the Day of reckoning, when all will be laid before your throne of judgment, in your kindness, do not forget
what we have endured.
We belong to the Church, to which you have entrusted the treasure of hope;
Do not shame us as lazy servants or strangers,
but open your door for us that we may enter into the
dwelling of your chosen ones.

HOOSOYO
PROEMION
Praise, glory and honor to the Father who sent his Son for our salvation;
to the Son who justified us by his fasting and life;
to the Spirit who strengthens us in our fight.
To the Good One is due glory and honor this evening
and all the days of our lives,
now and for ever. Amen.

SEDRO
Glory and honor to you, only Son and Word of God,
Light from Light and ray of the eternal Father;
you humbled yourself in order to bring us into
your kingdom;
you lived as one of us in order to return to us our
lost freedom.
For the sake, you endured fasting, fatigue and suffering of soul and body,
teaching us the way to happiness,
the way of Golgotha that leads to death and resurrection.
You taught us also that the grain of wheat which falls on the ground and does not die, remains just a grain of wheat.
And so, we praise and thank you saying:
Glory to you, O Christ, you have given our souls healing and consolation.
Glory to you, brilliant Light and Beacon that guides, us for you led our souls to goodness and confidence.
Glory to you, who provides for the needs of the universe and satisfies the hungry with your living bread.
Glory to you, All-Powerful and Most High,
in your generosity you help the whole world.
Glory to you, our only hope,
by your fasting you make the light of your grace shine on us and adorn us with the true garment of repentance.

Glory to you, O Lover of all, O merciful One,
you pour your mercy upon those who beseech you during this blessed Lent.
Now we ask you, O Christ, our God,
hear us and give us that peace which comes only from you.
Fill our hearts with joy and spiritual gladness,
spread your peace among nations throughout the world.
Sow harmony in families,
expel jealousy and hate from the hearts of the children of God.
Then we shall know that you love us,
and that we must love one another in words and deeds.
Enlighten the spirits of Christians that they may walk according to your gospel,
and, in truth, give witness to you above all.
Finally, may your mercy rest upon us and our departed, and with the just and the saints we shall glorify you, for ever. Amen.

QOLO
Come, brothers and sisters, let us work in this holy Lent to be worthy of being counted among the fathers and saints who have sanctified their fast.

Blessed are the humble, for they will inherit the earth; and blessed is the one who implores God with a broken heart, for the Lord listens to the humble.

ETRO
Lord,
fill the emptiness of our hearts with your love
and our limitations with your perfection.
May our incense (prayers) be a pledge of our fidelity and confidence in you.
Increase our faith, O Lord, and strengthen our abandonment to you and our love for you.
Then we shall sing pure hymns to you and praise you,
your Father and your Holy Spirit,
now and for ever. Amen.

READINGS
MAZMOORO
Pure prayer and sincere love are the signs of a blessed Lent.

Blessed are the meek, for they will possess the earth; blessed are those who hunger and thirst for justice, they will be satisfied.

May God who accepted the fast and prayer of our ancestors, accept our prayer and have mercy on us.

SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the Book of Genesis
Genesis 19: 1-3, 15-27
The two angels reached Sodom in the evening, as Lot was sitting at the gate of Sodom.
When Lot saw them, he got up to greet them; and bowing down with his face to the ground, he said, “Please, gentlemen, come aside into your servant’s house for the night, and bathe your feet; you can get up early to continue your journey.” But they replied,
“No, we shall pass the night in the town square.” He urged them so strongly, however, that they turned aside to his place and entered his house. He prepared a meal for them, baking cakes without leaven, and they dined.
As dawn was breaking, the angels urged Lot on, saying, “On your way! Take with you your wife and your two daughters who are here, or you will be swept away in the punishment of the city.” When he hesitated, the men, by the LORD’s mercy, seized his hand and the hands of his wife and his two daughters and led them to safety outside the city. As soon as they had been brought outside, he was told: “Flee for your life! Don’t look back or stop anywhere on the Plain. Get off to the hills at once, or you will be swept away.” “Oh, no, my lord!” replied Lot. “You have already thought enough of your servant to do me the great kindness of intervening to save my life. But I cannot flee to the hills to keep the disaster from overtaking me, and so I shall die. Look, this town ahead is near enough to escape to. It’s only a small place. Let me flee there — it’s a small place, isn’t it? — that my life may be saved.” “Well, then,” he replied, “I will also grant you the favor you now ask. I will not overthrow the town you speak of. Hurry, escape there! I cannot do anything until you arrive there.” That is why the town is called Zoar. The sun was just rising over the earth as Lot arrived in Zoar; at the same time the LORD rained down sulphurous fire upon Sodom and Gomorrah from the LORD out of heaven. He overthrew those cities and the whole Plain, together with the inhabitants of the cities and the produce of the soil. But Lot’s wife looked back, and she was turned into a pillar of salt. Early the next morning Abraham went to the place where he had stood in the LORD’S presence.

SUPPLICATION
O Son, by your fast you saved the Church from error; hear our supplication and have mercy on us.

You have established peace between heaven and earth, grant peace to your Church and keep her children in the light of the cross.

Let us thank the Lord, the Lord of all; may he open our mouths that we may glorify him. Happy is the one who by his good conduct becomes a pure dwelling for the Father and his only Son. He receives God within him as in a temple.

You who fast, learn to edify yourself by the means of wisdom, contemplation and knowledge; when you become a true
dwelling, God will take his abode there. How valued is fasting by him who probes hearts, when it is joined with humility, the love of God and neighbor.

Be not deceived by the evil one; if you have fasted do not place yourself over your neighbor who has eaten; fear Paul and the reproach he addresses to you; he who does not eat, let him not judge the one who eats. You are not charged to judge, but to imitate the Lord.

May Christ who accepted the fasting of our ancestors, accept our fasting and our prayers and have mercy on us.

Exalt, O Lord, the memory of your Mother and your saints; through their prayers grant pardon to us and our deceased. Through the prayers of your Mother, the prophets, apostles and martyrs, watch over the living, an in your mercy forgiver those who have died.

HOOTOMO
Let us confess, adore, and praise the holy and glorious Trinity: Father, Son, + and Holy Spirit.

TRISAGION

Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Holy are you, O God;
Holy are you, O Strong One;
Holy are you, O Immortal One;
have mercy on us.

Lord, have mercy on us.
Lord, forgive us and have mercy on us.
Lord, hear us and have mercy on us.
Lord, accept our worship and our prayers.
Lord, come to our assistance and have mercy on us.

LORD’S PRAYER
Our Father, who are in heaven,
hallowed be your name;
your kingdom come;
your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread;
and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us;
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours,
now and for ever. Amen.

O Lord
the night and the day are yours;
you uphold the light and the sun.
Through your power you direct the sequence of the seasons.
O Lord,
you have brought the day to its close and called forth the night.
Be for us that great Day that never ends.
In the evening let your light shine in our hearts,
and in the darkness of the night,
enlighten us with the knowledge of your truth.
And so, through all the days of our lives,
we shall praise you, Father, Son, Holy Spirit.
Amen.

EXAMINATION OF CONSCIENCE
Let us thank God for all the graces he has bestowed on us this day which has passed in calm and peace.
Let us recall our failings against the commandments of God an the Church in thought, word, deed, or omission.

“Forgive us, Jesus!”

Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

Glory be to you, O Lord.
Glory be to you, O Lord.
Glory be to you, O Lord.

God,
Father in heaven,
by your living and holy name,
keep us from evil and lead us not into temptation:
for we c all upon you, O Lord, our God, our constant hope, glory to you for ever.

O Lord, our Lord,
may our humble worship be pleasing to you;
may our prayers come before you and our actions give
you honor.

Let your mercy, kindness, help, grace and divine love be poured abundantly upon us poor sinners,
both in heaven and on the earth
which you have created in your goodness.
O Lord, our God, to you be glory for ever.
Amen.

DISMISSAL
Peace be with you.
And also with you.

O God,
through the prayers of your Mother and the saints who have believed in you;
through the prayers of the prophets, apostles, martyrs and confessors;
through the prayers of the just, the priests, the holy fathers, the pastors and doctors of true faith;
through the prayers of N., Pope of Rome, N., our Patriarch, and N., our Bishop,
forgive your people and have mercy on your flock.
May God bless, forgive, sanctify, purify, an keep each of the faithful united with us in this spiritual office.
May mercy and compassion be upon us and all the faithful who dwell here.
May peaceful rest be granted to those who have died in the faith.
May the faithful who live here experience the protection of his victorious cross.
May we and all his servants who adore him with bowed head, receive the mercy of the holy and glorious Trinity:
Father, Son, + and Holy Spirit,
to whom be glory now and for ever.
Amen.

May God forgive your sins,
pardon your failings,
and deliver you from the power of the enemy.
May he grant you the remission of your offenses.
Go in peace, and pray to Christ for me.
