O God,
may the dead be near your throne, and rest in
your divine dwelling.
Enlighten them with the light of your face and
gladden them with your heavenly happiness.
This morning, accept the prayers we offer for them;
give them rest and us pardon.
Then we will praise and glorify you,
now and for ever.

shed your light on our parents, brothers

Lift the veil from their faces that they may behold
your face to face and glorify you,
for ever.

NUHRO (HYMN OF LIGHT)
The Light of the just and joy of the upright in Christ Jesus,
our Lord.
Begotten of the Father, he manifested Himself to us.
He came to rescue us from darkness and to fill us with the
radiance of his light.
Day is dawning upon us; the power of darkness is fading away.
From the true Light there arises from us the light which illumines our darkened eyes.
His glory shines upon the world and enlightens the very depths of the abyss.
Death is annihilated, night has vanished, and the gates of Sheol are broken.
Creatures lying in darkness from ancient times are clothed in light.
The dead arise from the dust and sing because they have a Savior.
He brings salvation and grants us life.
He ascends to his Father on high.
He will return in glorious splendor and shed his light on those gazing upon him.
Our King comes in majestic glory,
Let us light our lamps and go forth to meet him.
Let us find our joy in him, for he has found joy in us.
He will indeed rejoice us with his marvelous light.
Let us glorify the majesty of the Son and give thanks to
the almighty Father,
who, in an outpouring of love, sent him to us, to fill us with
hope and salvation.
When he manifests himself, the saints awaiting him in
weariness and sorrow,
will go forth to meet him with lighted lamps.
The angels and guardians of heaven will rejoice in the
glory of the just and upright people of the earth;
together, crowned with victory, they will sing hymns and psalms.
Stand up then and be ready!
Give thanks to our King and Savior, who will come in great
glory to gladden us with his marvelous light in his kingdom.

Lord, have mercy on us and save us.
O God,
fulfill your promise of eternal life for the dead who were
clothed with baptism
and received as a pledge your body and your blood,

“Whoever eats my body and drinks my blood has life everlasting.”
Make them worthy of life with you, O God,
that they may praise you, for ever.

PROEMION
Praise, glory and honor to the One who created men and women
from nothing and saved them after their fall;
he raises those who rest in tombs, examines the accounts of
each one and rewards them according to their deeds.
To the Good One is due glory and honor this morning,
and all the days of our lives,

On the awesome day of judgment, the foundations of the
universe will be shaken;

READINGS
MAZMOORO
The living One appeared, the dead have heard his voice,
they will go forth in praise of the Strong One who raised them to life from the tomb.
At his voice tombs will open, rocks will split, the dead will rise,
singing the praise of the mysterious power that raised them to life.
In your mercy, Lord, give rest to your departed servants;
may they stay at your right hand with the just and the saints.
SCRIPTURE READINGS
A Reading from the Acts of the Apostles
Acts 9: 36-43
Now in Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha which translated means Dorcas. She was completely occupied with good deeds and almsgiving. Now during those days she fell sick and died, so after washing her, they laid her out in a room upstairs. Since Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him with the request, “Please come to us without delay.” So Peter got up and went with them. When he arrived, they took him to the room upstairs where all the widows came to him weeping and showing him the tunics and cloaks that Dorcas had made while she was with them. Peter sent them all out and knelt down and prayed. Then he turned to her body and said, “Tabitha, rise up.” She opened her eyes, saw Peter, and sat up. He gave her his hand and raised her up, and when he had called the holy ones and the widows, he presented her alive. This became known all over Joppa, and many came to believe in the Lord. And he stayed a long time in Joppa with Simon, a tanner.
A Reading from the First Letter to the Thessalonians
1 Thess. 5: 1-11
Concerning times and seasons, brothers, you have no need for anything to be written to you. For you yourselves know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief at night. When people are saying, “Peace and security,” then sudden disaster comes upon them, like labor pains upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you, brothers, are not in darkness, for that day to overtake you like a thief. For all of you are children of the light and children of the day. We are not of the night or of darkness. Therefore, let us not sleep as the rest do, but let us stay alert and sober. Those who sleep go to sleep at night, and those who are drunk get drunk at night. But since we are of the day, let us be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love and the helmet that is hope for salvation. For God did not destine us for wrath, but to gain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep we may live together with him. Therefore, encourage one another and build one another up, as indeed you do.

O God,
